1. What is AlphaSights?

AlphaSights identifies and engages subject-matter experts and executives who can assist our clients in their market research. By connecting clients directly with experts for targeted conversations and surveys, we enable our clients to address their knowledge gaps and make better decisions. Expert benefits include compensation, stimulating industry discussions, and the opportunity to expand their professional network. 

2. Why did I get contacted by AlphaSights?

When we get in touch, it’s because we believe one of our clients could be interested in connecting with you based on your professional experience. Whether you’re a senior executive, manager, doctor, buyer, academic, engineer, or anything in between, your experience is unique and may be valuable to our clients. AlphaSights Associates identified you using a range of online platforms and via referrals from individuals we’ve worked with previously. 

3. How did you find me? 

In order to contact potential experts, we use various public sources, such as business networks (e.g. LinkedIn), and leverage a number of third-party service providers that can provide contact details from internet data, professional network data, and trusted business partners. 4. Can I participate if I’m currently employed?

The majority of experts we work with are currently in full-time employment and AlphaSights interactions easily fit into a busy schedule. Your participation is in a personal capacity and not as a representative of your employer. If in doubt, please check with your employer, and let us know if they have any objections to your participation.

5. How can I sign up with AlphaSights?

We appreciate your interest in working with us as an AlphaSights expert. There is no expert application or sign-up process with AlphaSights at this time. But there are two things you can do: 

  • You can make sure we can easily understand and identify your expertise by keeping your professional networking sites up-to-date with regard to your latest positions, responsibilities and experience. If you have detailed familiarity with certain products and services, be sure to include those.
  • If we contact you for a specific project, please respond promptly. Our clients are working on time-sensitive initiatives and are often looking to connect within 12 to 48 hours.

6. How can I log in as an expert?

We currently do not offer experts the ability to log in to a portal or platform. Depending on what you'd like to do, the best approach to update your profile is to amend your professional networking profile and/or let us know when we next get in touch for a project. 

7. Why has it been so long since my last interaction?

We are glad to hear that you enjoy working with us. Once you’ve completed your first interaction, there may be demand for your expertise on more projects. The exact point when your knowledge may be requested depends on client needs and it is common for extended periods to pass between engagement opportunities. Please note that this is not a reflection of your individual background. We will reach out to you as soon as there is a suitable project for you.

8. What if my call is cancelled or rescheduled?

Although we do our best to mitigate these circumstances, some calls are unfortunately subject to being moved or cancelled altogether by our clients. We can’t normally provide compensation for cancelled or rescheduled calls.

9. How can I update my contact details?

Please use this form to inform us about changes to your email address or phone number so we know how to best contact you for the next project. If you’d like to make any other changes, please speak to a member of the AlphaSights team when we next get in touch about a project. 

10. How do I get paid?

We’ll email you a secure payment link after the interaction is successfully completed. This link contains straightforward instructions for receiving payment via bank transfer. Experts based in the US and Canada also have the option to receive a check.

11. How is my payment calculated?

For most interactions, you will be compensated at the previously agreed hourly rate. Payments will be pro-rated by the minute based on the time spent interacting with our clients. We can’t provide compensation for prep time unless agreed to in advance by our client.

12. How can I update my rate?

If you would like to have a conversation about your compensation, please speak to a member of the AlphaSights team when we next get in touch about a project. 

13. Can I donate to charity?

Our payment interface allows most experts to easily donate all or a portion of their fees to our chosen charity partner, which changes on a regular basis. If you’d like to donate to a charity of your choice, please opt for a cash payment and submit the charity payment yourself.

14. Where can I get my 1099 for my taxes?

We’re incorporated in the UK, so you should follow the tax rules in your country for income received from the UK. For this reason, we don’t issue 1099s to experts domiciled in the US.
